A Level Psychology at Spalding Grammar School

Independent Study resources page

This year you will be researching 5 studies on your own. These studies include one from each of the 5 psychological approaches. Independent study is a great opportunity to develop your skills and also to know these 5 studies in much more depth than usual.

Here's what to do. Visit the core study page and read through the summary at the bottom of the page. This is in enough detail to give you a good impression of what was done, but not in enough detail to answer every question the exam might throw at you.

Next, download the PowerPoint slideshow and the note-taking template. Click through the slideshow and fill in as many of the notes as possible. You can refer back to the summary or use the additional web resources if you get stuck. You should spend about an hour on this.

After that, you should download the assessment sheet and answer every question. Try answering just using your written notes; if you get stuck, it tells you you need to add something to your notes. You should find most of the answers in the slideshow or the written summary. If you get really stuck, post a question on the Forum!

Once that's all done, bring your notes and answers to class.
